The history of CTC(T&IT) goes back to October 1952 when Signal contingent of 112 personnel put through wireless training at " Adhoc Wireless Training Centre” Neemuch. In November 1954 ROG-III Course was run and in Feb’1955 standard test was conducted associating a representative from DCPW. A new chapter was added in the history of CTC(T&IT) when it started functioning as a combined unit with Signal Group Centre on 4 August 1970 at Neemuch(MP). The increased sophistication and enhanced responsibility led the decision to move Signal Group Centre/ Central Training College (Telecom) from Neemuch(MP) to Ranchi (Jharkhand) during December 1986 in a independent campus and later in year-2006 SGC was disbanded and CTC(T&IT) started functioning as independent and premier training institute of the force to impart training on telecom & I.T. subjects.

The SASI(Tech) Cum RM Grade-I being conducted by CTC(T) is recognized as equivalent to Diploma in Radio Engineering/ Electronics by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (Deptt. Of Education) notification dated 22/03/1996.

To keep pace with modern technology and to promote computer awareness among the force personnel, this institute under took responsibility to run basic and network management computer courses for officers, ministerial staff and signal personnel at force level. For this purpose 04 state-of-the-art Computer Labs with terminal capacity of more than 100 are presently being used for giving practical training in a local area network.
