Subject: -GALLANT CRPF COMMANDANT BRAVES BULLETS

An encounter took place between militants and security forces (45 Bn CRPF, 13 RR and SOG, Sumbal) in the wee hours today. Acting on specific intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin area of Bandipora district. When the troops were conducting the search operation, the hiding militants started firing upon them. At this crucial juncture Shri Chetan Kumar Cheeta took the challenge and gave them valiant and befitting response. Shri Chetan Kumar Cheeta, Commandant 45 Bn CRPF led the troops from the front and in a brave courageous effort to neutralize militants suffered multiple gun-shots. He was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar but due to his critical condition, he is now being shifted at Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi by Air Ambulance today evening. In the ensuing gun battle, three army men have been martyred and seven others have been injured. One foreign terrorist has been neutralized and some arms & ammunitions have been recovered from the incident site.
