GALLANT CRPF COMMANDANT BRAVES BULLETS(Updates regarding Serious Injuries)

       An encounter took place between militants and security forces (45 Bn CRPF, 13 RR and SOG, Sumbal) in the wee hours  of 14th Feb. Acting on specific intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin area of Bandipora district. When the troops were conducting the search operation, the hiding militants started firing upon them. At this crucial juncture Shri Chetan Kumar Cheeta, Commandant 45 BN CRPF took the challenge and gave them valiant and befitting response. Shri Chetan Kumar Cheeta, Commandant, led the troops from the front and in a brave courageous effort to neutralize militants suffered multiple gun-shots.

Immediately, He was evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar in a Chopper. Where he was provided the best available Medical treatment, but as his condition remained critical, he has been shifted to Trauma Centre  AIIMS, New Delhi by Air Ambulance on evening of 14/02/2017. At the Trauma centre AIIMS he is being attended to by senior Neuro-surgeons and a team of specialist Doctors.


           In this incident 01 Foreign Terrorist of LeT was killed. During post encounter search troops recovered following:

1) Dead body of militant

2) AK-47 rifle- 01, along with 04 Magazines

3) Ammunition AK-47: 71 Rounds.

4) Hand grenade- 01

5) Pouch -01

6) Cash: Rs 4270/-
